What did we pay for him? I thought it was something like £11m. Which is why im questioning £5-6m offer for him now..

9m, so 6m would be a good bit of business, especially considering his replacement was 3m!

Just found it was an initial £9m with add ons taking up to a potential £11m. So yes it wont reach those add ons causes i doubt, but theres a 10% sell of fee payable to Posh out of whatever fee we do get for him. So its a loss to the club really isn't it, but I suppose given his age this was always likely to happen. Get what we can. But in essence, we paid over the odds for him. So I would still say its not overall good business by the club.

the sell-on fee is on any *profit* we make on him, so we'd have to get more than 9m (did you mean blackburn rather than posh?)

We paid £9m. If we sell him for £6m we're recouping two thirds of what we paid for a player who hasn't done well here and is now the wrong side of 30. Do you think it's good business to do that or is it better business to hold on to him and let his value drop even further?

You are correct in that's the best we can do from the situation but let's not pretend signing SS has been good business.

It would.

It also worries me how crazy the prices have become in the Championship.

Agreed.

Which is why it's so impressive to see the Mehmeti fee compared with (a) the apparent Wrexham bid for SS, and (b) the fee Wrexham paid for Broady.

Credit to the club for that one, I think.

Nobody has said that. The OP and all subsequent posts have been about whether selling him now for £6m is good business. Glad you've finally got there and agree that it is.

It would be a good recoup, I think £5m or £6m at this rage, and suspect it will be done but squeezing to the end the transfer window makes sense.

Overall of course it’s poor ‘player trading’, poor fit, looked at his best in the PL from the left but wasn’t really utilised there, followed by constant injuries.

Cut your losses and move on.

Prices seem to have gone nuts since the latest TV rights deal kicked in, which I think was last season. £5m is the old £2m for an average player and now £15m+ the old £8-10m for a top Championship signing. We’ve done our bit to help set those values, but we’re not alone. Even the lower clubs are now being linked with £8m players. That was unheard of a couple of years ago.
