| England getting Suryavanshi-balled on 10:22 - Feb 6 with 584 views | mellowblue | With cricket being the number one sport in India, the biggest population to choose from and importantly the amount of money now in the game there, it really looks like India could totally dominate cricket for the forseeable future. Less so in tests where the pitches can be tailored to suit the home teams strengths, but certainly T20s and ODIs. | | | |

Flipping heck - for the last 5 overs, it's down to 2.8, with a wicket in there, too.

Not sure I agree with this. If the ball hits the ground the batsman has done his job, regardless of its in the fielders hands.

I think there's some room for nuance here. There was on in the BBL the other week where the catch was taken, the ball was going nowhere, but the fielder grounded the ball in the action of getting back up off the ground before he'd finished sliding. Letter of the law it's grounded and not out, but in that circumstance it was clear that the fielder had full control of the ball.

Personally I don't like the touching of the ground with the ball at any stage, control is one part of the rule, you could argue for. The catch where Starc skiied the ball along the ground in the Ashes is the one that springs to mind for me, no way in a million years should that ever be given out.

The one that gets me is when the ball has been hit for six and the fielder has been able to flick it infield for another fielder or himself to catch. It is great fun to watch it happen but morally the ball is over the boundary rope on the full and it should be SIX. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| England getting Suryavanshi-balled on 19:12 - Feb 6 with 262 views | Chrisd | How good is this young man going to be? Frightening that he is still only 14, played in the ILP and coped comfortably against the world’s best bowlers. He’s a serious talent. | |

Thats arguably exactly what happens if you ground the ball though, you arent in control of the catch

It is India's world, we are just living in it It does look quite ominous, the rest may just be competing for second place as things go on
