There's no current groundswell for her, according to Google, but having watched Nick Robinson's interview with her last year I have quite a bit of time for Heidi Alexander (despite her being a Swindon supporter.) I'm wondering whether, when a leadership change comes, she can be the candidate to appease both wings (being a one time Corbyn shadow cabinet appointee and then drafted into Transport sixteen months ago as a cabinet minister.) Incidentally her disenchantment with Corbyn was fairly damning, stating that he ran shadow cabinet meetings from pre-prepared notes and discussion was minimal, sounds like the opportunity to become deputy mayor to Sadiq Khan was a fortunate and constructive get out for her.

Leaving aside the fact that she doesn't have much in the way of popular appeal, she was the first to resign from the Corbyn cabinet in June 2016 and call for a new leader.

Indeed, by throwing her toys out of the pram and going of to be deputy mayor, it could be said that she chickened out from the fight.

But I suppose the same can be said of Burnham.

As Tony Blair's Director of Political Operations, John McTernan just said on the news, it's not the advice that was the mistake it was the appointment. An it was Starmer who made the appointment.

Not sure it's right that the McTernans/McTeiernans and the McSweeneys/Sweeney clans have such a say in UK politics. Might be time to let the Wards and Mcdonaghs have a lash at it. Otherwise looks like UK government are siding with one side of the halting site over the ither

If somehow he could reach the membership vote Al Carns would stand a chance. Not long been an MP excellent military record, was due to be promoted Brigadier but resigned his commission to stand for parliament. Macho man.

Not sure Mr Trump would be happy after Carn’s response to his crass comments on Afghanistan.

An appointment like that would emphasis the need for change. Would wipe the floor with Farage & Co.

Poll: Dickhead "Noun" a stupid, irritating, or ridiculous man.
