Can the under 21s get promoted? 10:13 - Feb 14 with 601 viewsAxeldalai_lama

And does it matter? Is it the better teams in premier League 1 or random? Seems weird we have Chelsea and Man Utd in our league if it's the lesser one.

Either way we're doing pretty well, not that it makes much difference yet with players coming through, but it's all positive development and will encourage better players to join I imagine.

PL2 is the top youth division.

I think our youth team would struggle in the Premier League 😜

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

Only if they see a pathway to first team. Which seems near impossible for majority of our own youngsters

Pl2 have players who get appearences in top prem side fixtures. Could even be European games. Yet we dont trust any of our own despite having a great u21 season to bring them into cup games.

We are top of the pl2 league. Top.

Yet boniface could only get a bench place and we brought on jack clarke to go left back and played Baggot at lb until then despite having a natural attacking minded left back in boniface sat watching.

And yes aware baggott played last night. Hes no longer academy.

My bad!! I didn't realise it was a full on 29 team league, I thought they were two smaller split leagues!
Do they play everyone once then? I assumed as they'd only played 15 games it was a relatively small league.
Top 16 appear to join some sort of play off? Should have done my research, all seems very complicated!

The step-up to mens football is immense.

Remember Charlie Brown? Went to Chelsea, scored consistently for them in the Youth version of the Champions League - now playing for Fleetwood. Remember Ben Knight, extremely highly rated by Man City - now playing for Cambridge.

It is but you always see the odd academy player appearence esp In cup fixtures.

As I said above. Youre a natural left back having a great season. Yet you see the clubs top scoreline forward being picked off the bench to go left back rather than trust you to go out and enjoy the experience of 20 minutes of football.

With the types of runs boniface makes, clarke going in normal role it may have opened up gaps for him to drive inside as boniface loves the overlap.

Also last night. We could. Could have taken mcateer off for a natural wide player in mendel. We didnt bother putting him on the bench and ended up putting egeli back in the position hes struggled in all season when mcateer came off.

We had cajuste gassed on the usual 60. Yet we took off neil because of match fitness for taylor... we could have had an u21 Cm on the bench to take the place of cajuste. But no.

We were chasing the game. KM put in a player that he trusted - totally understandable.

If we were 2-0 up in the 75th then maybe Boniface would’ve made his debut.

Where is this Mendel obsession coming from?

Putting the top goal scorer at left back is not totally understandable no.

Mendel is a right sided players whos having a great season. We only have two right sided players. One was not available last night so yeah take another one.

If theres another u21 right player having a season like mendel then sure put his name there instead of mendel.

"Where is this Mendel obsession coming from?"

It's because Frimmers has seen highlights of him scoring a couple of good goals. Against U21 players.

You cannot compare U21 football to mens football. He trains with the first team and was nearly on the bench. I’m sure his time will come.

No its because theres been a mixture of highlights plus games themselves available and I like the look of him as as explained above we have two right sided 1st teamers. 1 was only available for last night. So yeah take an u21 right sided player

Its the fa cup against Wrexham playing half a first team

Yes that is a time to trust an u21 appearance.

If we arent going to. But make sure we play all our expensive signings then just shut the academy under KM as it wont be used.
