They have spent 10 million on it….. I can’t wait to see the high quality of our new one this summer considering it’s in the 30 million plus bracket! Definitely a “game changer” for the long term future of the club.

I’d like to see that. I’ve been to the pottery museum at Coalbrookdale and that was fascinating. The local aircraft designer you are talking about will be a certain Reginald J Mitchell (known as RJ). Mitchell was an amazing man. He was employed by Supermarine at Eastleigh, Southampton from WW1 to his sad and early death at 42 in 1937. He worked on a number of aircraft, mostly seaplanes - Supermarine’s speciality. He went on to work on Schneider Trophy seaplanes including Lion 1, 2 and 3. He then worked on the S series aircraft that won the Trophy outright. The S5 was piloted to victory by Sidney N Webster of the RAF High Speed Flight, full back and Captain of Ipswich Town! Mitchell, aware of the rising threat and tech developments in Germany went on to head the design team that created the Spitfire. The most beautiful, iconic and one of the most deadly aircraft of WW2. Unlike the biopic film First of the Few, he was part of a design team which is why Spitfire development was uninterrupted during his illness and following his passing a year after K5054s first flight. He was one of the great, innovative designers. He deserves a museum in the area of his birth at the very least. [Post edited 20 Feb 22:22]

...and with more than one exit out of the car park!

With fans like the Potato Head who needs opposition fans?
