Cajuste/Taylor 11:20 - Feb 25 with 1190 viewsFrimleyBlue

Who's your choice of the two?

On the ball we know what we get with cajuste and he was involved in some of good play going forwards when he came on. But he scares the crp out of me when it comes to getting back.

There was a chance watford had when the guy tucked in from furlong and cajuste tried to get back, stuck a leg out but was quite easily bypassed and they took a shot (Just found it within the highlights 4.52) Thankfully didn't come to anything, but is Cajuste definately one you'd be more comfortable seeing come on very late in a game when the result is pretty much sorted rather than when things are getting a bit nervy. ? It's quite an awkward thing really because whilst he may not light up the assist or goal scoring table, when he does his turn or gets the ball forward, he does get involved in alot of our opportunities, i think he even started the play for our 2nd goal.

I think we prob all agree Neil is the perfect Azor partner. So It's that sub spot i guess.

Also, side note

can someone confirm who the other game in hand is for us, Obv one is pompy.. what is the other one?

As a starter - Taylor. For all his talent, Cajuste is too much of a luxury player to win the midfield battle in the first half of Championship games.

As a substitute - depends on the game. If we need drive, Taylor. If we need guile and skill, Cajuste.

Neil obviously. But if not, has to be Taylor. Cajuste flatters to deceive most of the time.

Cajuste at home against a low block has been pretty useful at times. Also like you said to kill the game when it opens up. Assuming two of Azor, Neil and Taylor are available I don't see him starting another away game, he's just too unreliable off the ball.

Neil for me, he’ll be an upgrade on both when fully up and running.

Otherwise Cajuste at home and Taylor away.

Yes definitely but like you said depends on the game, if we are holding on I don’t think he’s the man.
Two goals up put him on.
He is really skilled but defensively I’m not sure.

If you're only comfortable with 1 of your central midfielders being used when a result is 'pretty much sorted' it rather begs the question about that individual. I don't disagree by the way in terms of stability with him or appropriateness for that role. For me he's probably a change you make if you need a goal or have the luxury of a more open game where he has space to get on the ball and play. He's not the attritional terrier type I'd favour more often than not in there, hence he's not started a huge amount of games of late. He's perhaps more likely to break the line with a bit of skill, but I don't think there's the mobility, positional sense, work rate and / or bloody mindedness of others in him. Whether that's fitness, appetite or just his game. If you could combine him and Taylor I think you would have some player, both have their plus points for sure. Neil looks closer to a hybrid.

For me it's Matusiwa and Neil. Taylor a very capable option too who has a big role to play I'm sure, while Cajuste continues in the same vein as he has for most of the season with minutes off the bench.

Well if Philogene is back soon, then there might not be room on the bench for both Cajuste and Taylor. We'll see for the home game where Kieran might be a little tinker and bring in Cajuste / Taylor, but I see Matusiwa and Neil being first/ second choice , Taylor third and Cajuste fourth. Nunez could also play as an 8. Mehmeti, too.
If it was based on who's more deserving and more of a team man then it's Taylor over Cajuste. I'm bored with this Cajuste thing. Don't care about having certain skills if you can't care enough about the dirty work, and cant put in a shift. I think Cajuste might even struggle to get on the bench if we have a fit squad.
