Saturday had shades of a typical 23/24 whitewash win 09:51 - Mar 2 with 794 viewstractorboy1978

I appreciate Swansea really played into our hands but it was totally dominant and as comfortable a home win as we have got this season.

The balance of the side looked spot on. Since McKenna has been here, our best and most convincing football (at home in particular) has been with a left sided attacker that is more of a 10 than a wide player and a direct touchline hugger on the right. Gets the best out of Davis who has room to overlap and stretches the pitch for us when you can hit either Davis or Burns with the diagonal.

Neil has that Luongo level of football intelligence too and knows how to cover Leif when he goes. He's a strong all rounder in there with Matusiwa. And brings leadership too.

I assume you mean 22/23?

23/24 that game would’ve been 3-2.

Not quite, they have a point, reminded me of the 3-0 home win against hull.

Very similar in terms of the early goal, the goal just before half time and the 3rd half way through the 2nd half.

Some of our football in that Hull win was on a different level though. Certainly signs of it on Saturday, but it still feels like we've got another gear to find.

Something I found really interesting recently was something KM said about the business end of the season.

Something like we're not there quite yet, but when we are, we will have discussions ( something like that)

I wonder at some point if the reigns are going to be absolutely unleashed

I very much doubt we've been holding back in any way. There is no logical reason to "sandbag" in a football season.

As Coventry have shown, getting an early head start gives far more room for slip-ups and lessens the pressure when everyone is exhausted in the final couple of months.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Could be done for various reasons though, main one being fitness, we;ve had one of the best seasons of keeping players fit esp when compared to other clubs, is that because we alot more careful with output.

We've also played at times a much slower game, alot less emphasis on gungho 23 football which has brought it's own rewards.

Just think there's extra levels out there to achieve if we needed them, alot more gungho abilty but incredibly high risk at the same time. etc etc

I really don't think we had many games as strong as the Swansea game at home in that season. I agree that Hull was one of them, but apart from that, really every other game apart maybe from Stoke, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and ultimately Huddersfield, there was always a certain amount of jeopardy

Think people have a bit of amnesia about how we did it in 2023-24, we’ve already had more comfortable home wins this season than in the entirety of that one.
