I did see The Members about 10 years ago & they were surprisingly good. Rat Scabies was on drums & he looked liked he'd spent most of the previous 30 years sniffing glue. They were playing with Department S. We went largely because a good mate of mine was a friend of drummer Stuart Mizon. He was a classically trained drummer & a lot more proficient than Rat Scabies. At the first firm I worked for, in the early 1980s, I did have the pleasurable moment of trying to call a trader called Ron Vickery (nicknamed Vic) and when someone else picked up the phone, I was able (legitimately) to ask "Is Vic there?"

I’m trying to remember one that I should know because my brother in law is in the band. It’s got a trumpet in it, and not many lyrics. A bit of a soulful party vibe. It was a one hit wonder and I’ve definitely forgotten it

Soft Cell had plenty of strong hits as well as Tainted Love Bedsitter Say Hello Wave Goodbye Torch What! Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret was a really strong album at the time showing the seediness and loneliness of big city life. Sex Dwarf, though not very pc is a fun track

The Vibrators were an under-rated band. Knox joined the Members on stage when I saw them for a terrific rendition of "Baby Baby Baby".
I think there was a large degree of punk snobbery involved because they weren't regarded as proper punks but then again even the Clash had pub rock roots.

Remembering Rat Scabies when he was young and he didn't look so good then, I am surprised he is still around.

Thanks for that GB. Must be a bit of an urban myth. The other night I was watching a late night music channel of one hit wonders and that came up. If the professionals packaging music together can't get it right what chance do I have. Perhaps it was one hit wonders of Mongolia I was watching.
