Lots of non-singers have had hits (Nick Berry springs to mind) but this one is actually a classic.

His only hit in the UK. Sacha Distel's version was more successful but this is the much better version.

Not sure how much of a hit this "double B side" single was but ....

The first two albums from the Vibrators were great but this was their only hit.

Fun fact: Stiff Little Fingers got their name from the title of one track on their first album.

I did see The Members about 10 years ago & they were surprisingly good. Rat Scabies was on drums & he looked liked he'd spent most of the previous 30 years sniffing glue.
They were playing with Department S. We went largely because a good mate of mine was a friend of drummer Stuart Mizon. He was a classically trained drummer & a lot more proficient than Rat Scabies.
At the first firm I worked for, in the early 1980s, I did have the pleasurable moment of trying to call a trader called Ron Vickery (nicknamed Vic) and when someone else picked up the phone, I was able (legitimately) to ask "Is Vic there?"

Before U2 came big, I remember seeing them on TV playing a gig which also featured the Members. I thought the Members were far better.

The Vibrators were an under-rated band. Knox joined the Members on stage when I saw them for a terrific rendition of "Baby Baby Baby".

I didn’t realise they were a one hit wonder? Awesome song.

Edit. I hadn’t realised Soft Cell’s Tainted Love was a one hit wonder either, but that’s certainly not forgotten.

I’m trying to remember one that I should know because my brother in law is in the band. It’s got a trumpet in it, and not many lyrics. A bit of a soulful party vibe. It was a one hit wonder and I’ve definitely forgotten it

Soft Cell had plenty of strong hits as well as Tainted Love
Bedsitter
Say Hello Wave Goodbye
Torch
What!
Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret was a really strong album at the time showing the seediness and loneliness of big city life. Sex Dwarf, though not very pc is a fun track

Also can't believe the one hit wonders to halt all one hit wonders haven't arrived yet.

Tiffany had a few hits. Made her reputaion by taking her act to countless American malls.

Little known fact Chesney's dad Chip played vocals and guitar in the 60's group The tremeloes

Captain Sensible had a smaller hit call Wot !, which is heaps better than ruddy Happy Talk.
How can you go from the Damned to throwaway pop. Disgrace.

I think there was a large degree of punk snobbery involved because they weren't regarded as proper punks but then again even the Clash had pub rock roots.

In my view their sound was right up there with bands who were so regarded which is all that really mattered.

Remembering Rat Scabies when he was young and he didn't look so good then, I am surprised he is still around.

Pretty famous for being a one hit wonder, probably because the two women had a big falling out

Another sell out. Used for the wedding of Kylie and Jason when they were Charlene and Scott in Neighbours. His daytime job is singing for the great Aussie metal band Rose Tattoo who were fantastic.

Well, The Stranglers did pretty well for a band who weren't remotely "punk" but rode the New Wave.

Thanks for that GB. Must be a bit of an urban myth. The other night I was watching a late night music channel of one hit wonders and that came up. If the professionals packaging music together can't get it right what chance do I have. Perhaps it was one hit wonders of Mongolia I was watching.
