We made a very last minute decision to go, didnt leave Ipswich until 4.30!

Yup. Was deffo midweek. I can remember still being in that pub car park opposite the ground a good hour or so afterwards as well.

Like you, it was a late decision to go for me as well. I did that a fair bit that season as would often finish work around 2pm. Walsall was another midweeker where I spontaneously jumped in the car around 4pm.

Given the huge availability of away tickets for this game, if I wasn’t doing a dress rehearsal for a play I’m in over the next fortnight, I’d probably have gone to this as well.

As it is, I’m waiting to see when the Pompey game is rescheduled for and hoping maybe to get a return on that.

I think it highlights its always been a tricky away fixture and place to go to get a result, theres a reason the cliche says but can they play midweek on cold night in Stoke...

whilst acknowledging weve only played them like 10 times in that 29 years at their place. though I think weve only beaten them like 5 times in that whole period including the home games.
