Milwall hit with two separate FA charges this week 16:59 - Mar 12 with 3586 viewsIllinoisblue

For chanting “South London sp*****s, we know what you are.” at Palace and Charlton fans this season. Talk of a possible ground closure. Seems like a 6 point deduction would be a more appropriate punishment.

Even at the time it was widely condemned by adults.

Unfortunately it went viral around schools all over the country. It got even worse when his friend Ernie also appeared on Blue Peter and the ridicules became more commonplace.

Ashamed to say I used to do it at school too. I'm really not surprised people with CP don't want us to use the 'S' word, it's always been used as a substitute for calling someone a tw*t.

My god I thought it was just in our school, you had to have pretty thick skin back then, I wore glasses at school and I remember those two words of "four eyes" would cut real deep with me, thankfully I wasn't bullied and it wasn't used very often, yet I and everyone would jump on anything insulting looking back, kids are damn cruel within groups, certain teachers would get it too if showed weakness, it was honestly thought of as banter no doubt, pray you were strong enough to laugh it off, if you couldn't your life could be made hell...

And now, as an adult, can you imagine how being called a "Joey" all the time and having people pull faces and flail their arms about at them felt to people with Cerebral Palsy, pretty much any visibility at the time?

If people with CP don't want us to use the "S" word, which is part of the medical diagnosis of some of them, as a catch-all insult, why not just say "OK", learn from it, and move on?

I got called it loads of times tbh.

Good idea move on.

Not sure about this. You need to show some workings as to how you've come to this conclusion.

Just get the "NPR" website on your device of choice, they have loads of " Tiny Desk" concerts on there, free to listen too, they generally only last about 15-35 minutes each. Find some Rappers and Hip Hop artists concerts on there. That will be all the proof you need! I don't use the two words that are up for discussion personally, but neither were meant as an offensive term originally, as I said in my post they got debased over time. Unfortunately people today take offense at anything and everything. "Prissy" is the term I use. Personally I don't give a **** what anyone calls me, as long as it isnt late for dinner!

That particular word has been used as a racial slur since the middle of the 18th century so I'm not sure your argument really stacks up, now does it?

People choose to be offended, there isn't an " offensive gene ". You can call me what you like, I don't care. I had a lot of black friends in my youth, you should have heard some of our " exchanges "! The world has become " offended at anything ". Prissiness rules ok. I never use either of those words in public, so I don't have to worry.

Why not, out of interest?
