Take away the manic language in the style of an angry teenager, there is a valid point in what Trump is saying. The internet is being flooded with AI images of dead USA servicemen, US navy ships on fire, hundreds of. US servicemen being captured by the IRG. That’s no different to the broadcasts by Lord Haw Haw aimed aimed at demoralising UK and American families during the second world war by saying that their relatives were being killed in Europe and that the allies were losing the war. America is at war. Regardless of whether people believe the rights of wrongs of the war, if these AI images are being produced of shared by US citizens in order to demoralise the US public then that is as much treason as the Lord haw haw broadcasts. edit. I've re read the two links EG has provided and Trump isn't talking about mainstream media. He specifically says "those media outlets that generate [the fake AI images]. Unless I have missed something here? [Post edited 16 Mar 10:52]

That's something he pretty much pioneered though. His use of AI manipulation and fake news played a huge part is starting the trend, seems a bit off to complain when it's not going your way. AI images on the internet is not the same as trying to silence the national news broadcasters with what is effectively censorship. If broadcasters air something that is incorrect they should be challenged on that by the regulator and the correct actions taken. They shouldn't be threatened with losing their licence by the administration. It should be a totally independent process. SB

That is a completely separate issue that EG raises in his op. I'm specifically replying to the links where Trump says that people who are generating AI images of US warships on fore and other fake AI images that are genreated and distributed to demoralise the US public who have family serving overseas. Ithink that is a fair point and it is no different to the Lord Haw Haw broadcasts. Yes we know Trump is a hypocrite who has shared fake AI images in the past. I don't care about Trump or his feelings. But that doesn't mean that his point made in the two links EG shared isn't valid. At a time of war, knowingly generating and sharing fake AI images that undermine the war effort is treason. Imagine we had troops out there and people in the UK were generating and sharing fake AI images of dead British servicemen, captured British servicemen or HMS Dragon on fire there. We need to separate our view of Trump and what is right and wrong.

He's also attacking the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, neither of which are known for fake AI images.

All the major western media outlets including Sky, BBC are reporting from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Israel has a free press including the left leaning Haaretz. If Tel Aviv was getting pounded Jeremy Bowen would be wetting himself reporting the destruction. Iran (and maybe Russia/China) are flooding the internet with AI images of Tel Aviv in ruins, Bibi lying under a pile of rubble etc. They are hoping the hard of thinking will fall for it. |
What's wrong with Jeremy Bowen Glassers? I've always found him to be a fine journalist. He was a guest on Newscast last week and spoke really well I thought. What am I missing?

As I said to Stokie, I wasn't addressing EG'S OP and link. I was replying to a post commenting on the two links in this post where Tump uses the word 'treason' for people who generate and share fke AI images, which include images of dead USA servicemen, US navy ships on fire, hundreds of. US servicemen being captured by the IRG. He's not wrong there. It's no different to what Lord Haw Haw was doing in WW2.

Gamblers trying to win a bet on Polymarket are threatening to kill a journalist if he doesn't rewrite an Iran missile story. Platforms like Polymarket allow people to bet real money on geopolitical events. In some cases, those bets are resolved based on how credible media outlets report what happened. Crazy. https://www.timesofisrael.com/ [Post edited 16 Mar 13:00]
