One thing that seems to have gone missing from football 21:19 - Mar 14 with 755 viewsCheltenham_Blue

is the full volley.

That ball over the top in the first half when Ahmeti ran in behind, I honestly think if he has just let it come over his shoulder and then hit it on the volley he would have had more chance than trying to bring it under control first.

It either goes into Row Z or he's a hero, there's no in between.

Jack Moylan hit a rocket of a full volley in the first 10 mins for Lincoln today. Keeper made a great save but it was old school stuff all round.

I reckon It’s a feature of current thinking and identikit coaching within the modern game.

Keep the ball, recycle it, pass it around the edge of the box until someone judges the opportunity is there to play that perfect, high percentage, high reward, once in a game through ball.

Eventually, some coach will decide that shoot on sight is the better percentage option and the game will slowly shift again once a few goals start flying in off low block arses and limbs.

It used to great on here when people let me say whatever I wanted and giggled along - (Rough translation of post from un-named TWTD contributor, 2026)

I agree and it's sad. Although Taylor actually scored a full volley vs Stoke but as it bounced into the ground didn't feel as such.
