Someone I've always meant to take a closer listen to. Not heard enough by him.

Can hardly believe the album this is from is 40 years old. This track heavily influenced in style by Dylan’s ‘Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts’, but still a cracking choon.

Had a quick shufti on Wikipedia and he’s done loads of stuff down the years. Like you, must catch up with some of it

My mum's favourite song, which we played at her funeral.

Yes. Mike Scott, the only ever present member of the band since their inception in the early 80s, was a proud Scot.
During the mid 80s, inspired by Irish Celtic folk, he relocated to Ireland.
During that time he wrote and compiled the Fisherman's Blues album.

Regarding Baba O'Riley, the title is a contraction of Pete Townshend's spiritual guru Meher Baba and avant guard composer Terry Riley.
The O was added later as it sounded better that Baba Riley.

There is very little Irish influence on The Who's music, although a bodrum does feature on the Quadrophenia track "I've had enough".

Poll: To make him more acceptable what should Gary O'Neill change his middle name to ?

Great tune that.

Ballinamore is known locally as the Leitrim song. Even me own village if Dromahair gets a mention

There's never been a better song written about a lawnmower, in my book.
