| One mistake I think McKenna made yesterday 13:56 - Mar 22 with 1365 views | tonybied | Bringing on Philogene and plonking Clarke on the right, was for me a bit of an error. I think he should've put Philogene on the right. Both players much prefer the left position, but can operate on the right. Both are also less effective on the right. Jack was already playing an extremely influential game on the left, and essentially we are just getting Jaden back up to speed. It just seemed the worst of both worlds to bring on Jaden and move jack to the right. That killed any attacking intent in the match from us. | | | | |

Yes especially with Davis not playing on the other side. We didn't get in behind at pace on the flanks.
| One mistake I think McKenna made yesterday on 18:12 - Mar 22 with 1123 views | Swansea_Blue | I thought that at the time and wasn’t surprised to see Jack drift out of the game. Let Jayden get some minutes without blunting our most effective threat. But we sometimes like to blunt our most effective threats, for some reason (see Leif). I think Kieran is an excellent manager. He also seems to be a very highly respected coach (harder to judge, but he turned around our L1 side immediately). He does seem a bit inflexible in some ways though. He can be a bit ‘the players need to fit my way’ as opposed to ‘I’ll do what it takes to get the best from our the players” type. Not hugely, but it’s noticeable. He’s normally playing players in roles they’re primarily suited to, but he has the occasional blip. Building from the back with a keeper far less comfortable doing that would be another example (although to be fair to Walton, he’s improved albeit still not at Hladky’s level). I’m being hyper critical though and judging him against the high bar he needs to reach to emulate the likes of SBR. PS. And I’m probably also talking carp! Kieran’s forgotten more about football than I’ve ever learnt. [Post edited 22 Mar 18:23]

| One mistake I think McKenna made yesterday on 20:21 - Mar 22 with 919 views | BouncebackIpswich | Yes completely agree with this. It was a very poor sub in the context of the game as Clarke was getting 1 on 1 Vs Crama and had the beating of him and looking extremely dangerous. Presumably Kieran pre planned what the subs would be and was unable or unwilling to react accordingly and change what he'd planned based on how the match was planning out. Swansea called it inflexibility (with plenty of caveats) and I would agree with that word. I think he will need to learn to be more adaptable if he wants to go to the top. [Post edited 22 Mar 20:31]

But pretty much to the man they made us worse. We lost our biggest threat (Clarke cutting in from left), Akpom was nowhere to be seen, and Jack Taylor had a moment which would have been perfect for Cajuste. Guess you can’t get it right every time but we lost all momentum. [Post edited 22 Mar 21:47]

You can put the best players in the world up in attack but if the players behind them can't get the ball through what's the point.

Not that SWE looked up to the pace of that game either.

Agree with you. I said to my son before the match that Jaden didn't really look up to speed at SW. Was somewhat surprised by the Friday thread when many were advocating Jaden starting in place of Jack!

A good Philogene was exactly what the game was needed, and so I understood the sub from that perspective but it didn't really work out. Leif and Burns were the big misses from Saturday to allow us to stretch the game when Millwall went man-to-man in the second half.
