I do think Mark needs to come and apologize he really shouldn't be resigning over this , from a football matter hes done nothing wrong and if this was Keir starter or Tony Blair etc we would give 2 hoots, let move on he is key to keeping this club competitive both on and off the field and a voice we as fan listen to but this definitely needs to be dealt with a video of apology. I believe we all would give two hoots though, and the right leaning part of the political spectrum would be up in arms beyond belief. I’d be really angered by it too. There are big differences to political figures attending games and meeting board members to what Farage and his team did on Monday.
Im sure for those on the right that if the shoe’s on the other foot, people would you feel enraged if Starmer etc grifted your club, used it as a political weapon to divide us.
What for me made it really hit home today was that he was sat in the changing room seat of someone they were totally opposed to being in our country…. with a smug grin on his face. NF has shown his negative views on Albanians publicly and has then come into our club, taken down Mehmeti’s shirt and put his up there. How do think that makes our players feel?
I think an apology is a 100% must to gain some credibility back to our club locally, nationally and internationally. However I think there trust has gone and he’d be best off leaving. | | | |

The choice isn't Ashton or Clegg though.
What Ashton has done for this club over the last 4 years is nothing short of amazing. I really wish he could stay on to continue in the same vein.
But for some insane and inane reason he decided to blow that all up by affiliating the club with a political party and then lie about it to the media and the fanbase.
I have no idea why he would do this, but his position is now untenable and he only has himself to blame. I really wish it wasn't the case but he has to go.
I have full confidence in the ownership group to find another excellent CEO and Chairman. |
Not sure whether amazing is the right word. With the unprecedented level of investment from Gamechanger etc, isn't what has been achieved on and off the field no more than the owners would have the right to expect. In old performance marking terms, he's met the objectives, not exceeded them. | |

Being seen to give the club’s endorsement to any political party and the divisive consequences* is gross misjudgment and employment terms gross misconduct.
Ashton has done a lot of good work but his arrogance has led to incompetence. What the hell did he think would come of this.
Ashton is or maybe even now was an employee of the club - he has never owned or been the club.
*that division will take a long time to go away whatever way this plays out as the club will either be seen as endorsing Reform or woke for censoring Ashton.
No good will come out of this - we are in damage limitation territory and Ashton has to be accountable. |  | | |
