A proper apology

My word.

This clearly now isn’t about 'lying' or 'keeping politics out of things' anymore. It’s about you taking issue because the visitor’s political views don’t align with your own.

And for that, I now struggle to have sympathy. It comes across more like sulking, the kind I’d call out in my teenage daughter.

You need to move on.

Oh great. This is the new narrative.

I'll ask you the same genuine (albeit loaded) question I have asked others before (but am yet to receive a response to).

What did Mr Ashton apologise for?

He apologised because he upset a portion of the fanbase. Whether he needed to or not is a separate debate, but he did.

At this point, it’s time to move on. It feels like it’s becoming more emotional than it needs to be, in my opinion.

Yeah, time to move on- he only invited one fascist to lunch and he only pretended he didn’t until he was caught - what’s the big deal? Snowflakes.

And you don't see a problem with that?

You said why he apologised. You have not said what he apologised for.

If I kick you in the balls and say "I'm sorry that you didn't like that I kicked you in the balls", I assume you would be similarly cool with it?

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I wish mine was the same as yours. But it isn't. We've been lied to, lied to again then gaslit, and then got given an apology which admitted no culpability for anything purely because he got caught out, backed into a corner and had nowhere else to go.

The man is a weasel.

Personally speaking and in my opinion.

Just thought I'd have a look at the comments under the news story on this, as we all know that news commenters are a different community to this one and (being honest) it is less of a lefty bumfest on there.

The balance of views there is pretty much the same as on the forum though. Overwhelmingly unimpressed by the statement, with a few dissenters saying all fine and we should move on.

Facebook comments are possibly overall slightly the other way, albeit Facebook communities tend to be more right wing leaning these days.

Not on twitter, but assume everyone there thinks Farage is great and is just lefty scumbags complaining.
