Correctly through hear say that we are about to start adding 7000 seats to be Installed onto the west stand , as soon as the season ends ?
With those seats occupied by Portman stand ST holders , then work to begin on said stand ? I’m curious if anyone else has heard same info .

I think it's been mentioned a few times over the last year or so.

I understand that they're wanting to re-do the roof in order to get rid of the restricted views brought about by the stanchions, and will add in extra seats at the same time.

With the recent history of one or two things having been done via retrospective permission, it may be that they've had pre-application chats with the Council that have suggested that planning/retrospective planning could be fairly straightforward, which could embolden them to go ahead as soon as they can.

Not sure they can do anything retrospectively on anything that can be viewed from outside the ground by the public, that’s how they got around it before.

This will definitely need full planning permission.

7000 deckchairs on the West Stand roof is what I heard. Could be draughty.

Would they need a Derrick to install them? :)

That will be the plan, unsure on capacity, but they cannot start after the QPR game unless they take a huge risk proceeding without planning permission already in place. They do however have form for pressing ahead with some works without planning in place the darth vader helmet Sky box over the tunnel I believe was built without planning being in place.

Ashton doesn’t seem to be the sort of person to let little legalities like planning permission stop him doing what he wants.

To be fair, some of the recent stadium tours haven't been exactly full of reliable info or covered in glory...

I heard it was mentioned on the F….. E stadium tour, with the offer of a look out post so he can see down the Orwell for any approaching boats.
