Sorry but Akpom has been a big disappointment this season.
I've waited until mid-April to decide and I just don't think he's been effective. I know last night's match is best forgotten but again we needed a burly striker to make an impact and I'm not sure he even touched the ball? (I may be wrong,I was very wound up at that point!)

He (looks to) have physicality about him but seems unwilling to throw himself about and plays as if he's the size of Chaplin

He has a decent touch receiving the ball under pressure but then takes 10 more touches to run backwards away from that pressure and pass back to midfield, pointless.

He has an eye for goal and makes good runs in the box but Kieran for some reason refuses to play him upfront.

He is NOT a 10. He does not have the quickness of thought or body to play there

He's been a disastrous signing and frankly one of the few good things if we fail to go up is that we can get rid of both him and Cajuste.

Can't disagree compared with what we were hoping for. Not really made a major impact like Matusiwa on the ball or Nunez just for spirit, nor shown signs of growing into his role like McAteer and Azon.

Akpom hasn’t worked - yet if the front 3 can play in any position, why why don’t they alternate that includes Walle who seems to know where the goal is when he goes away!1

The difference with Walle Egeli is that he's only 19 and he's playing at Youth level internationally, not coming up against giant, hairy Championship defenders with years of experience and cunning behind them.

Not sure we've had any games suitably pressure-free to experiment with SWE as a central attacker. Every League game has had a lot riding on them.

Plus with Burns injured and McAteer taking a while to get up to speed, there's been a hole to fill wide right. SWE doesn't yet have the guile, strength and trickery to replicate what Clarke and Philogene do on the other wing. Which is perhaps what our coaches were hoping for.

Nunez was absolutely rank last night, could've caused a right mess at CR with his antics on Sunday.

That's why I said spirit for Nunez, he is prone to dodgy performances sometimes. Taken over the season as a whole, he has given a positive boost to the atmosphere (not to mention one of the catchier songs).

Akpom has had no noticeable impact on morale, barring one important goal.

Agree, but I still found Nunez's antics on Saturday not funny, I get others did, but for me I thought it was unprofessional. And last night he stunk the place out.

Akpom and Neil have both been very poor signings, neither added much of note, despite respective reputations.

Indeed, there was a severe risk we could have been down to 10 in the derby. I don't agree that it was McKenna's intention to have him come on and cause the kind of chaos he did (which is why he was taken off again pretty quickly). The distraction for Norwich players was an unintended consequence, if a useful one, given no damage was done.

If he’d been played as the striker, I think he’d have finished some of the numerous big chances Azon has failed to convert.

When we wash up for this season there are going to be plenty of things to point to but whilst we retain the high chance of automatics or leas chance of promotion via playoffs thats the focus. If one of these two success routes plays out its going to be despite carrying various players and the squad not quite being what we expected ready for Aug. An that will make success even sweeter.

Keep calm and carry on to the end of season (and any add on games)!

Altho I question a little if he'd have got himself into a position to. One of Azon's main attributes is he keeps on running, pushing himself into places where chances can happen. Akpom doesn't seem that kind of dynamic and proactive.

1. He hasn’t been played in his best, most natural position for us.

2. We keep bemoaning not putting our chances away.

Why KM hasn’t sorted out 2. by adopting 1. is a complete mystery.

We played SWE centrally in the Wrexham FA cup game and he didn't really inspire.

The subs last night felt like KM conceding the game and resting the important legs. Akpom just isn't anywhere near it for me.

I am told Akpom was on £100,000/week but is now on £26,000/week. If we go up we have to buy him.

He has, doesn't help that he's hardly played the role he did at Boro. He's not suited to the way we usually play, not his fault. It's a bit like buying a fillet of fish and expecting it be a lamb chop!
