Really? Looked to me like McKenna was akin to a p1ssed up gambler in Vegas at 3 in the morning throwing everything at trying to recoup something.

Considering winning yesterday would have almost had one for in the PL, I very much doubt that’s the case. McKenna was has baffled as everyone but yes we got plenty wrong.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

I think McKenna channelled his inner Paul Lambert last night with that team selection and odd substitutions. We play like that against Boro and likelihood is we’ll be 4th by the end of the weekend.
I think one of positives in relation to Southampton is the cup semi final they’ve got to look forward to. Just hope it affects their focus on the games ahead, and they take the game to extra time and penalties.

whilst it was of course a big opportunity i was a bit surprised he didn't rotate a bit more tbh (Azor in particular) plus would have liked to have seen Taylor in there. Sunday is even bigger but was anyway as opportunity to finish off Boro. I still think the one positive is we'll be going into that now with more of a point to prove.

If we had one eye on Boro then we wouldn't have played a clearly unfit Matusiwa.

I don't think we did, the rotation was predictable given the schedule, we just didn't play well. Out fought, out ran, and schooled by Pompey, that's the reality. Really poor day (night) at the office.

Need a reaction on Sunday at a packed PR. Beat Boro and that's them done, it would also be the 2ppg from the last 3 tricky matches that we were all saying we needed. Being 3 points (minimum) clear of Saints, with a better GD, and 4 games left to their 3 would be a very nice position to be in, and yesterday would be quickly forgotten.

I think he realised it was a mistake, subbing him quite early

He had the subs readier a lot earlier to usual

I think he probably gets the defence line up and midfield pair wrong in fairness

It's the same problem we've had all season - we should be able to rotate this squad without a noticeable drop off in performance or results, but we just haven't be able to. Myriad of potential reasons this, but it's at the heart of why we haven't been able to put together a run of results.

The fact we've not been able to put together a series of consecutive results without also having having a stinker thrown in has been a huge albatross around our neck.
