Agreed, but by that stage it should just be down to us and Southampton for second place, so both us and Saints will have two games left.

Miiiiilllll might have something to say about that. Beat QPR on Sat and they go second again with 3 easy (on paper) games left.

Our remaining game in hand is v Saints ... we have to win that ... easy isnt after not being able to muster a serious threat on Pompey.

That’s incorrect and it’s really quite simple.

Our game in hand over Southampton is WBA.

Our game in hand over the rest of the league is Southampton.

Basic math suggests we need 7 points before Southampton away and to beat QPR at home to secure promotion whatever any other teams do. So no we don’t have to win that. This is also worse case scenario we may need less.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Taking a sort of XG approach…

We are pretty comfortable in lunchtime kick offs - haven’t lost all season home or away, average ppg of 2.25 - and we have three of them left - Boro, Baggies and QPR

Midweek under the lights away (I am not counting Monday or Friday as they are effectively weekend fixtures) we have played 6 and Pompey was our first loss and we had 2 wins and three draws previously - so ppg of 1.5

3x2.25 +2x1.5 =9.75

Home and hosed…

I suspect we will outperform our XP
