| Anyone going on their hols abroad ? on 11:03 - Apr 17 with 1457 views | _CliveBaker_ | If an airline cancels a flight you would be entitled to a refund under UK aviation consumer rights. If booked separately and on a credit card you could also try to claim accommodation costs back through section 75. If there's no way of getting there then the contract has broken down. Albeit if the accommodation is still open (probable) then its not a slam dunk, but worth a try. Worth contacting the Ombudsman if its rejected too, costs nothing and always worth a shot. Hopefully we'd be suitably covered in the worst case, either via a full refund from TUI, or by going to the card provider for them to take the money back off TUI. | |

Dubai in June/July is warm, with or without the addition of drones. I think BA were cancelling flights until end of June at the moment. I've got 3 weeks in the US for August so we'll either be all ok, or under a nuclear winter by then. Apparently the UK is better off for jet fuel than Europe right now due to flexibility post-Brexit on 'tankering' rules. Basically airlines can fill-up at the cheapest/most plentiful location rather than EU rules which state that is not allowed. Thank you Nigel?

AS someone who frequents Dubai a lot.. i can tell you "warm" is an understatement for that time of year. Expect daytime temperatures between 44-48c - and overnight temperatures north of 34c the hotest i got to last year was 52.8c :) - that was... toasty :) i can give you some good recommendations on places to go im aimng to get back out in July.. trump permiting.

Yeah, warm was my understated sarcasm. I used to live there and Riyadh and we had 50+ a few times in Riyadh. It's the humidity (and the drones) that kills you in Dubai. Emirates are flying there now from UK, but it's still under an FCDO travel warning so all insurance is invalid effectively.

Yeh I was there early June last year so fully aware of the heat - don't mind it, but every now and again it catches you out when you try and wander somewhere a bit further than you think and realise you've messed up!

| Anyone going on their hols abroad ? on 16:21 - Apr 17 with 600 views | jaykay | should have been in dubai in march. i booked with emirates holidays. i rung them a week before we were meant to leave and asked what my options were. they told me i could have a full refund or have my holiday at a later date. took the full refund option which was back in my bank account within 15 days.i had paid my car park at stansted well in advance got that back as well. then phoned travel insurance company and said my holiday wasnt going ahead and as i didn't need insurance that i had paid for they said i will get a refund less 30% for admin fees. | |
