And Kirk also did a good job of refereeing the home derby this season. He isn't a bad ref, although giving that pen to Stoke late in extra time when they're obviously looking for it was naive in the extreme.

If the FA had a policy of not allowing refs to be in charge against teams that they’ve made a mistake against, no matches will ever get played. He made a mistake - refs do as they are human.

Most mistakes are down to players trying to con the ref.

Fair point and it at least might calm down the conspiracy theorists a touch. Though god knows what it will be like if he turns round and does the opposite and awards us a highly dodgy penalty right at the death, which is converted for all 3 points! It would be a hilarious melt down by the CT's!
