Bradford away 87-88 is the only one I can recall at present when we beat them 3-2 and Boro snatched 2nd place. Brighton were relegated in 91-92 when we did our promotion procession but I think they were as good as down anyway. [Post edited 1 May 14:38]

And, equally now what you asked, I remember Palace doing a lap of honour after beating us at Selhurst Park in 1993 thinking they were sure to stay up. I laughed a lot when they went down the week after.

Also rather besmirched their final game at the old Ninian Park. I only just managed to get into that game, the security were suspicious I was a home fan trying to get in the away end. Living in the West and having no proof of being a Town fan.

Cardiff still fully expected to get in the playoffs after that, so it definitely didn’t feel like a season-wrecker. It was only because they lost their last match and Preston won theirs 6-0 that Preston got past them on goals scored.

The tension around those remaining few seconds was unbelievable. Tbf we did celebrate their demise very hard. [Post edited 1 May 16:02]

I was just about the post the same. It was extraordinary. At the time I felt like the Leeds fans anger towards us was OTT and 'very Leeds', but you're right we did celebrate quite a lot.... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

not quite the same (as leeds were safe in the playoffs), but us beating bielsa's leeds on the final day as we got relegated was a bizarre result!

Kemar Roofe's penalty was one for the ages. Did it make the top tier of Churchman's or just below?

I was thinking we relegated Leeds one season didn't we? Or am I getting muddled up? I am sure we have sent teams down on a few occasions but can't recall so many where we have stopped them going up or getting into the play offs. I recall watching us at Notts County the final game in the early 90s and they cantered to a 3-0 win to confirm their place in the play offs. We were very much on the beach that day. Let's hope for QPR to be more like that for us tomorrow.
