And we’ve also run out of positive ways to describe his brilliant press conferences and interviews. I thought the post match interview with Brenner (?) on BBC Suffolk was so insightful And maybe one for those who’ve not connected with this season to take in. In short the guy is absolutely knackered following a season that has really tested him. A holiday much needed as he stated. He admits the season has not panned out as expected, and there was real risk that automatics or promotion was in jeopardy. That the season has been an absolute grind and could have gone south. I’d suggest that the league has been harder than people realise, that teams have played up against us and played a low block to thwart us, and probably that the team has taken longer to settle given the level of change, and also perhaps that some players haven’t quite delivered. But what a remarkable achievement to pull ourselves into the automatics - it’s reliant on being more resolute, of managing fatigue, and enduring an incredible fixture pile-up at the end. We will always have St Marys. I think this is as big an achievement as the last Prem promotion, I think it’s taken a lot out of our manager. And maybe despite needing many new players - our new robust style and our maturing centre backs are a foundation for better fortunes in the Premier League. Hats off to McKenna and the players. That was a slog, and you ground it out, and gave us passages of magic play and goals. Now hit the beach. You’ve earnt it.

Hopefully he can now recharge and look to erase the only blot on his managerial record. We should be going up as the strongest of the promoted 3 and this time have a real go at getting at least 17th...if he can do that it will trump all he has done so far

I think the time it took to get McAteer up to speed (he’s ended the season strongly) combined with Sindre being a project, and that Burns injury. Huge challenge.
