Would be a good addition, 21 and clearly good enough to step up from the championship

Decent player. Has he got the 90 minute engine.

It's probably harsh but there has to be a question mark on his record of relegations with two big clubs in last two champ seasons. Obviously he's only one player and he seemed to be one of of Leicester's better players. But he's in the engine room and two relegations.

Matusiwa has played with him at last club. James was struggling for games.

Not against it though. Talented boy.

Nope.
No more looking at Championship players, unless they are to loan back to the Championship.

We will sign some from the championship, it’s nailed on I would say.

We have to continue signing from the champ because £30m + proven players likely dont come straight to a newly promoted football club, looking at the best of the champ as we continue our build up and best we can secure from overseas markets. Signing a championship all starts team hasnt been a failed strategy so far, it didnt secure PL status first time but it did secure a return at the first time of asking.

Also far higher risk, at least with proven Championship players you can use them if relegated or sell for a good price.

Mt x from Panama or Spain might not even cut it in the championship

I'm not suggesting we won't buy players like James, but it's more likely as an 5 year asset purchase, not to compete in the Prem, but to be loaned to a top Champ team.

It's notable that of all the players we bought for the Prem in 24, the only two currently back in the Prem are the two we bought from Premier League Clubs, three if you include Axe. The rest are all at mid table championship clubs

That said, look at Sunderland's recruitment model and compare it to ours from two summers ago, chalk and cheese, together with the competitiveness.

He would have been last summer. I think our targets will be higher.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Think we said that last time, and ended up with championship all stars.

Would think we will blend championship players, grizzled prem guys and foreign punts

You are not buying him to start in the PL so you'd just essentially be swapping him for Taylor. I personally don't think he's massively better than Jack Taylor but he obviously has age on his side.

Doesn’t matter what we have learnt if they players won’t come, that’s half the battle 80% of players who can hold their own in the premier are known and it’s small fry to pick them up for the squad or loan.

But he's not going to start so you'd just be swapping two 'squad' players.

It's just a question of if that is really worth doing?

I disagree and that’s been evident on the completely different directions of various clubs strategies that have been promoted let’s just enjoy it for a while first though!

So you wouldn’t sign Hackney? The player that half the Premier League teams are interested in,

No point trying if half the Prem are after him is it ? We won’t be high on his list. We must have learned something last time. A team of championship all stars isn’t the answer.
