He is, I'm surprised Sunderland aren't keeping him but maybe its a case of the player not fancying the move.

Not cheap, but £20m for a 25 / 26 year old, 20 caps for Netherlands, top flight experience isn't ridiculous in todays market.

Sunderland have also opted not to pay the £20m option, so while its indicative of his valuation it could be open to negotiation slightly. If we're to spend £150m this summer across 8 players they're going to average that sort of amount.
I'm not sure what the terms of Sunderland's loan were but something along those lines could be nice. Season long loan, straight option at the end. Overseas loan too which is favourable. | | | |
