He's had some injuries but still scored 9 from 25, I'd call that an average season. The point is that he's not a fringe player, he is genuinely world class on his day. And you're saying we only have 2 players in decent form so what about the other 24 who aren't? |

I think Foden has been average for more than one season now so I understand that one, but I think Palmer is the better player anyway.
The thing is now if we'd have picked our best players and lost we could say we weren't good enough, but now if we're struggling to penetrate a defence in the quarter-finals we wonder what might have been. |  |

I just mean that when on form he is world class. Clearly that has not been the case recently but he has it in him whereas other players are limited.
It's all about opinions anyway just seems such a waste of talent, it's not as though we are world beaters and don't need him.

Not sure it necessarily matters. Toney proved he could score in the PL and is on top goalscoring form going into the World Cup. Tuchel is picking on form.
Not many teams will be taking 2 strikers with nearly 100 goals between them in the current season. |

He isn’t though is he? Hes picking those he likes that also have form. Morgan Gibbs White has been one of the best players in the league since Christmas and hasn’t been picked. He’s scored 11 in his last 9 games.
So it’s proven class (Maguire, Foden, Palmer) missing out if not in form but proven class who are in form (MGW) also not made the cut.
