I thought he would struggle when he took over the Brentford job but hats off to him for what he has achieved with them this season.

Definitely done better than I thought but I did think it was wild that so many people were tipping them for relegation. They finished 10th the season before, over 30 points above the bottom 3 and are clearly a well run club

Along with the Sunderland chap, would be my Manager of the season.

Gives you some confidence that with the right team and infrastructure in place, we can still thrive as and when KM goes.

MA, as much as I don't like him, I think understands that point very well.

I do wonder whether he may suffer from second season syndrome. A lot of question marks in the Premier League next season already.

The smaller, successful, well-run clubs beginning with B have all surprised me in this respect. I thought Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford would all really struggle to replicate the form they showed under previously successful managers, but they've managed to slot new fellas into the role and just keeping pushing forwards. I don't know whether that's because the well-run nature of the club is doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the manager, or whether the well-run clubs just pick managers more successfully (or perhaps both).

But yeah, Brentford's case was perhaps the best example, with Thomas Frank having been with them for so long, and been so consistent without too many stars, with a club that has never set the world alight before.

Kudos to Andrews. He's taken over impressively with no fuss, and made it look easy. I'm sure it is anything but.

Amazing what managerial skills you can pick whilst spending half your life with your hand up a fluffy duck's arse.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I would guess that these clubs have retained most of their recruiting team as that's probably most important for any PL club. And yes, you have to appoint a coach who can work with that team.

Didn't they also lose their 2 top scorers?

Yep, done a great job, let's see if he can follow it up next season. If so, he might become a hot property, amongst clever club owners and their appointed representatives who can see beyond the usual suspects when it comes to managerial appointments. Just like ours did. My only worry would be the " Thomas Frank " factor. How much is their obviously very good recruitment set up playing in it.? Is it to the point where any reasonable manager could make a fist of it? I guess we'll find out, but as an ITFC " old boy " I wish him the very best of luck, apart from 2 matches next season!
