With a decent pre-season behind him, does he have a future here?

I think if Wes moves on, he's a useful option. Not a starter.

too injury prone and possibly won't be the player he once was. 23 games in 2 seasons tells it's own story. Had a lot of bad luck.

I have a feeling Ogbene could stay. He has the right profile. Big,strong, physical, athletic. Just what is needed in the Premiership. I’m not saying he is a regular starter or Mckteer. Think we will go for someone else to. But think he might be seen by the staff as doing a job out wide right.

Sheffield United said he wasn’t going to play in second half of season and wanted to send him back in January; we wouldn’t take him and he played the grand total of 39 minutes in the second half of the season despite being fit for the whole time

We weren’t trying to get him fit, he was fit in January and we didn’t want him - he’s done here

This is completely ignoring that facts of the situation when Ogbene returned from injury, and how well he was doing there before his injury.

I’m sorry, but accusing me of ignoring the facts when there is a reality staring you in the face is wild.

He’s miles off what we need sadly

You’re probably right and I think we’ll approach this season differently to before but McKenna has told him to come back to training in the best shape possible.

Multiple reasons I suspect but he won’t be written off completely.

Well, you are ignoring the facts as to why he played so little after playing in every game for SheffU after he signed for them, and before he got injured. There are well documented reasons why he played so little when he came back, and these have been posted numerous times in this and various other thread, so you are clearly ignoring those.

Your last sentence is an opinion you are entitled to, and may be right, but actually has nothing to do with discussing the reasons why he may not have got many minutes for SU when he came back from injury.

This, and his age, are I think why he won't be part of the squad next season. He has been incredibly unlucky since an excellent season for a struggling Luton in the PL. He's also shown what he could bring in recent RoI games.

I don't think we can take the risk though, but that's for KmK and the coaching staff to decide during the summer.

BTW, your stats for games played must be out, as he played 30 for Luton in the PL 23/24. It the past 2 seasons he struggled, missing most of 24/25 with us, and then another 3 months out this season.

But the well documented issues are just people’s opinions, Wilder played him when he first came in and then decided he wasn’t up to it so stopped playing him and wanted to send him back

He had a few little look ins from there but he was on the bench for them 10 times after he came back from injury (so talk of being 6th loanee is wide of mark at times) and only got off the bench 3 times.

Sheff U were still in the PO hunt for a lot of this, and he was deemed not up to it - we moved him on quickly; and we had a space in the squad - we named Conor Townsend in the 25 man squad who wasn’t fit

No, not opinion. He played every game up until he was injured during the international break (Wilder didn't just drop him), and the injury took him out through the winter transfer window, by which time a) Wilder had strengthen, b) Brooks had come in to cover and established himself in the position and c) SheffU had too many loanees to all be in the match day squad.

All of these helped side-line him. Had he not been injured, Brook may not have got a chance, and Ogbene been first choice for the season.

So the documented issues are indeed facts, not opinion - agree, it's opinion that they are what resulted in his limited minutes after returning from injury, but as valid as your opinion.

Edit: Townsend was not registered either. That is an incorrect assertion.

Was in and around it at SUFC until he suffered his injury with Ireland. Wilder evidently not a fan for whatever reason, though. I suspect he wanted to move him on in January to bring his own players in, would guess he was costing a fair bit in wages. Having been in a somewhat rambling press conference after our game there, I'm not too sure I'd have much faith in Mr Wilder's judgement on anything. My friend who is a Blade warned me he's a bit like Trump when he goes off on one.

Kieran wanted him and Wes to give us pace on the break in the Premier League and spoke a few times about losing both of them being a big blow. Think he'll obviously want similar next season but assume KMc will look to add better to those we've already got wide on the right.

I'd go with who we've already got in the building for the right hand side. See who comes out best in pre-season. Plenty of options. Don't want to waste time tinkering with the wings when we have got to find a seriously strong central midfielder and 2 no. 9's.

Mistake re Townsend, but we only registered 24 so there was space but we preferred to leave him not playing there than be an option here.

Surely that tells you all you need to know?

I’m not trying to be captain hindsight, I liked the signing, thought he was a good competitor for Burns and that we missed him but the injury has clearly taken him down to a level which sees him as not even a viable option for us in the Champ.

In January last year we had a McAteer who had been awful, Egeli who was struggling and Burns finding way back to fitness still and didn’t want him

I can see that we just see things differently - and that's fine, much is opinion

I've disagreed about McAteer being 'awful' from very early on. He was top percentile for the number and quality of chances created way before he (to quote people who weren't seeing this) 'came good', and this was in the first half of the season. The 'poor' side of the equation were our other players not taking the chances. For me it was clear that there was a good player in there, it just needed for the rest of the team to click.

On Ogbene, I trust in KmK, and the reasons he gave at the time. Maybe he was just being 'kind', or maybe he just genuinely thought Ogbene was too far off it with his recovery to 'hit the ground running' in the way KmK wanted.
