The last opener was Qatar v Ecuador. This weekend has seen much better football than the start of any World Cup I can remember. In the first few days of the last tournament it threw up these results.
Qatar 0 - 2 Ecuador
England 5 - 1 Iran
Mexico 0 - Poland 0
Morocco 0 - Croatia 0
Denmark 0 - 0 Tunisia
France 4 - Australia 1 |
You have just made my point - France, Croatia, Morocco were semi finalists, England Quarter finalists. We got to watch decent teams. These first seven games have to be the weakest 14 in history to start with.

At least back up your bias with facts. Lower ranked teams can still play interesting games and get a shock result. And yes I personally enjoy a festival of football with fans enjoying themselves that haven’t been there in forever.
Interesting you’re citing counties that often qualify for tournaments as well. Switzerland have got to the QFs of the last two Euros, USA have got out of their group last time and look a good side.I really don’t know what point you’re making when the games have overall been enjoyable.

Germany vs Curaçao has been a good watch so far. It's obvious which side has more quality but Curaçao haven't exactly parked the bus. As for the tournament so far, I haven't seen much to make me go "wow" so far but the football has been quite watchable when compared to the club season just gone. |  | | |
