Sky say “they understand” we’ve been talking to 2 prospective managers 17:16 - Jun 16 with 5772 viewsMarkp68

SSN said about 10 minutes ago they understand we’ve spoken to both OGS and O’Neil. Can’t say either fill me with any great enthusiasm. Also said we hope to have a manager in place by the end of this month; surely we’d move faster than that?

I’m slightly surprised he’s apparently made the shortlist too. He’s not young (only a few months younger than me) and unless I’m missing something he hasn’t got the kind of managerial record we’d look for from someone who didn’t have a storied playing career.

Has KMcK given him a glowing reference?

You would have thought KM has given him a positive rap and Ashton has interviewed him more out of intrigue then anything else.

I can see him and Ashton getting on well but he's so different to Mckenna in profile and ultimately what Ashton wants.

He's consistently hired elite coaches first and foremost.

I suspect it's highly unlikely he ditches that all together for a CEO type now.

Please move on from Kieran.

He's moved on, and we need to as well.

Yes, as I put in a post a couple of days or so ago. if you continually keep looking back you tend to walk into brick walls. I'm sure almost everyone wishes KM the very best for whatever the future holds for him, but we have a football club to run. I was there when the then " plain " Bobby Robson departed, all together a different magnitude. You have to move on, just like both of them.

The perfect answer, for me, would have to have given Kieran a 12 month sabbatical and appoint OGS as manager for one season with an agreed role at the club when Kieran returned.

Are you sure you want to sack one manager and appoint another at an exact specified time in the future, with 12 months of football madness in between - there’s a reason that’s never happened. It doesn’t work for either of them, or the club.

KM might get offered something else, we might lose first 15 and sack Ole, he might also win 15 and get a 5 year contract .., there’s a million variables, which is why nobody could agree.

You need to get over some facts that make you feel bad but are true.

Km. Doesn’t want to be part of the Ashton road show, doesn’t believe this group or the the talent id to move it are good enough (he’s also big enough to j ie he takes some of that responsibility) and he sees much better opportunities elsewhere. And maybe also he does want a short break too.

Process it.

And if he does return, it likely we’ve both failed to reach objectives for that to happen. But who knows, a nice thought for him to return without Ashton in a better structure.
