That was my take too. If the Ghanaian just lets pickford hit him it's a definite yellow and a potential red

That makes no sense at all. Pickford came, got nowhere near the ball and took out a striker.

The striker lead with his studs and the first contact was the bottom of his foot against Pickford's shin

No he didn't. The Ghanaian striker made no attempt to win the ball.

Perhaps more importantly... at about 79 minutes, how is that not a pen and a red by Konsa? Clear as day unless I missed a flag for something else?

On the floor ? Not the keepers leg ?

If the keeper is not there, he lands on teh floor, and gets through to the loose ball. But 79 minutes.... clear as day unless something else going on?

Amazed that wasn’t given as a penalty. Clear foul, no where near the ball, yet commentators etc hardly mentioned it. Had that been at other end with Kane through on goal I think we would have got that.

Thats what Im baffled about. Seems to have been glossed over. Clear as day unless some other flag or decision that the commentary did not make clear? Shearer praised the Konsa challenge ffs!

Offside was given after the event once he got a shot away and it hit Semenyo. Just so strange there was no reaction.

That doesn't make any sense, the keeper being in the way doesn't make it a foul. Agree they should have bad a penalty later but no idea what you're trying to insinuate with your last comment.

It does if you stop the player getting to the ball. Having looked again- I see why people say the Ghana player stuck a leg out. But its pretty clear he turned his side on to protect himself as Pickford blocked his path. Its a red card all day. [Post edited 23 Jun 23:23]

Didnt look it. No var check?! Just ran it back. Not offside. Not even close. Pen. And a red. https://ibb.co/dw6DDKrB Am increasingly concerned with the officiating in this tournament. Whilst they have been quick to wave away soft stuff, which is good, they have favoured the big teams repeatedly imo. [Post edited 23 Jun 23:28]

The offside was for Semenyo who was hit by the follow up shot, well after the foul. I was amazed that didn't get given/looked at/remarked upon. We got away with one there. Pickford's challenge was the right decision though.

How can an honest var not have corrected this? It's either not being used or something fishy is happening. Which is why we see nothing of it and the commentators appear under instructions not to raise it.

I'm not really one for conspiracy theories so not for me no. I think there have maybe been instructions to use VAR as little as possible, but that's about it. I think what possibly saved England here was how little appeal Ghana made. If they'd made a fuss I expect it would have been looked at. Maybe the fella didn't realise he was fouled or the fact he then got a shot away distracted him.

First one was a blatant foul by the Ghanaian striker on Pickford. Pickford pulls out the challenge and is then taken out. The Konsa one you mention looked a penalty though. It's never a red card. Genuine attempt to play the ball so double jeopardy rule applies. Think that's been the case for about 10 years.

He was nowhere near the ball. Not convinced it was a genuine attempt. He would likely have received the benefit of the doubt though. The big question is how is it not given. Was there a check. What was the result. Why is no information being given about such checks and why are commentators not mentioning them. Given how corrupt FIFA plainly is, there is a real issue of transparency here.
