As has been pointed out elsewhere, it reminded me of a higher level version of what we witnessed at Portman Rd last season. Attack v 9-1 formation. It’s hard to play against that unless you possess exceptional players like France, Spain, Argentina do. Shearer kept p£ssing on about pace and yes they didn’t move the ball fast enough but it’s doubly tough when you have nowhere to go.
Ghana were excellent at what they did and England didn’t have a clue how to break them. Not helped by the left side. Gordon? Weak and hopeless. They’d have done better with JP or Clarke! |  | | |

It’s a far too predictable outcome with England, going back years. Sure, you get the odd one (e.g. Croatia), but if it starts off looking like dross, it ends up looking like dross. | |

I am completely perplexed by what anyone sees in Gordon. I have never once, watched a game where he has stood out. He seems to work hard, but can barely ever beat his man. He spends too much of the match inside, where he has no space to work, which tends to mean he struggles even more to beat the 2 men he's then up against. That was all compounded by no support from Spence going forward too. |  | | |
