Cheers for that! For what its worth I have been many years away from Ipswich, but living near Ipswich then I watched it at the Mulberry Tree. Going to extra time and being 18, I was 3 sheets to the wind with lager and then the loss knocked the wind out of me. Was a long walk home with my mate. Dramatic game that was. On to Uni a few months afterwards and away from Ipswich.

Italia 90 and Euro 96 we were literally a larger boot size from getting past the Germans to a winnable final.
Things went to sh1t on the pitch for a long time after, with some incredibly talented players regularly under performing on the international stage.
Wasn't until Southgate that we got genuinely close to a trophy again.
So yeah, sure nostalgia plays it's part, but we were so close it was painful...

In terms of football coverage, the era was so exciting with European football returning after a long hiatus, overseas stars choosing to come to England (Bergkamp, Gullit, Klinnsman, Zola,Cantona really kicked it off). Most football was on terrestial television - Champions leagie, Uefa cup, F.A. Cup, Local Football league sides. Match of the Day was in its pomp with Des and the cross section of great 90's music as backing to goal of the month. Really it was the start of the great years 1994 - 2019, 25 years of top football before VAR, Covid, Pep retain ball everywhere. Jeff Stelling as Sky Sports News too he was one of the best things about Sky.
These days you just need the money for all the streaming services, but that era back then was the start of a really special football time.
