Doubled up down both flanks and allowed the central defenders to fill the area. What an extraordinary display, with 10 men for over 45 mins against a side who had not lost a competitive game at home since 2013. This is a very different England team.

Yes, I think we'd have been toast in extra time

What an odd take, he didn't invite pressure, he set the team out to cope with the pressure which we faced as a result of having a man less and Mexico going all out for goals. He took Anderson off as he changed the team shape to cope with the attacking Mexico changes and Anderson's role was not required?

What was interesting though is that Tuchel held back 1 sub, and his last sub was bringing on a fresh attacking midfielder. Had we conceded, he would have still had 2 changes to make in ET vs the one which Mexico would have had, and having brought on Rogers, could have strengthened the holding midfielder and put Watkins or Toney on up front. The option to then play the longer ball and have the pace to take advantage would have been there with against a tiring Mexico defence. [Post edited 6 Jul 9:30]
