I’ve not seen him much for Boro, but he’s a v honest and superb defender, a top championship player. Maybe getting judged through premier league in waiting goggles. At defending, one of the best we had. A much better defender than Wolf, just not as good in the ball. I’d try and not to get sucked in to reductive narratives, there are people on here think Azon was a good striker, and Philogene is pants, that’s life, not everyone has an in depth knowledge of the game that tips up £30 a week. The fridge won’t be short of offers if they don’t want him - a leader, loves to defend, likes the physical side, he’s Mr EFL, they’d be a big queue at that level I’d hope. Makes you think. Not in terms of quality. But in terms of value, we were MUCH better at talent ID when resources were scarce, now, we over pay for players who don’t add nearly the value of the Fridge, Chaps, Sam, Mass, Butgess etc etc More than the sum of their parts. Out expensive players, less than, and that’s why we can’t compete with Leeds, Sunderland, Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth etc Long term, it’s all about the value I guess.

| Fridge on 15:15 - Jul 12 with 922 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Aside from this being the view of one fan on Twitter a few observations: Fridge was excellent for us doing what he did which was as a leader in the dressing room and a real character, a cracking League 1 defender and a solid squad player in the Championship. There's a reason he didn't play much for us in the Championship and he is a couple of years older now. I don't know any Town fans who were rating him as highly rated. Everyone I was aware of was thankful for what he had done and recognised it was best for him to move on and wished him well. Similarly, most Town fans think Woolfenden is not top end of the Championship quality (hence why he didn't hold down a place in the Coventry team). He has at least played at a higher level than Edmundson and is a year younger. I think he would be a decent option for mid-Championship table sides. I would imagine Boro are aiming for better than that. It is also why I can't see it being a mistake if Coventry are allowing him to leave. | |

Paragraph 1: he isn’t a top championship player. Good league one, lower championship level. He was not first choice three seasons ago. Paragraph 3: he wasn’t one of the best defenders we had. Burgess and Woolfenden got in ahead of him for a reason. They were better players. He was wholehearted, contributed, brave, but he could get caught out of position, not the fastest, not the biggest. I liked him and his attitude, but he had to move on for his career. The rest: here we go again. Let’s drag in the current recruitment policy, management and players repeating the same old same old misery. Whilst vaguely positive about Edmundson, you were just using it as a stick to beat the club you loathe, so nothing positive really. Again. Perhaps your lot will sign him? OTBC

Bristol City, cracking header from the resultant corner. Same match that Hayden Hackney picked up his injury.

That’s a pathetic level of avoidance. Sad. I was talking about the fridge. Rated him as a better defender than Wolf and still do, but like you and the management, doesn’t mean I’d play him alongside Cam, when he has similar attributes and Wolf was better in the ball than both, although Burgess very underrated in the ball. It’s my opinion. I don’t need you to agree, I think that’s where we differ, you DO need the sanctuary of conforming to a set view so you don’t stand out…, sad, but good luck with it. The point we got better value from our transfer business in those days, and that the clubs mentioned do it MUCH better at this level hardly seems controversial…, you only need to look at league tables, results, and the players we’ve signed for a lot of money, that we no longer want, Akpom, Ogbenne, likely McAteer, Johnson, Greaves, and a good few we’ve already let go. High standards, critical evaluation, they add value… happy to accept I make the same point too often, that would be fair. What isn’t fair is that the point isn’t valid. Look at our 22 points, it would have taken us TWO SEASONS to match Sunderland and Leeds, and they are promoted sides. Not established. That’s the level we’re at. That’s the standard. The competition. Where we will be measured. Whether you like it or not, we ARE getting measured in this league, there’s no escape, or mumbling Morecombe. You’re happy clapping …, that’s what I think looks like anything but support, you’d clap Ashton off a cliff…, that’s not support, it’s being petrified to formulate and articulate your own opinions, you’d clap need tribe. Maybe find a cult. OUR football club deserves better, take Ashton with you. Set up Ashton FC because watching you try to do it with OUR football club is frankly painful.

But you’ve said all that before. Repeatedly. With your huge IQ I’m surprised you’ve not remembered. Even dimwit happy clappers like me can remember that much. Lots of capitals again. Unnecessary, but heck if it makes you happy. My opinion regarding Edmundson and his place in the team was clearly mirrored by McKenna. But what did he know, eh? What is not an opinion is that you are limitlessly negative about my football club. That is not ‘critical evaluation’. It’s what you have posted - endlessly. I won’t throw abuse at you as you do me because your posts suggest you might be in need of medical help.

That’s the one! Very very pivotal game. Up there with chappers scoring the late winner up there for Pompey.
