To me that doesn’t make sense. Bonkers.

It’s just at what point that pay out triggers is what the gambling part is. A mate used to work at old showboat when it was called that and it was amazing the amount people spent in it | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Many MANY moons ago I worked on the bar at an American pool and snooker club. I have a fairly mathematical brain and tend to think in systems. The place had a £150 jackpot fruit machine (which was a lot more back then) and you could tell the patterns of when it tried to pay that out.

They literally make different noises, and do different things when they’re close to the point of needing to pay the jackpot. Used to play them loads as a kid and the incredible thing is the lack of discipline applied when you know it isn’t going to pay! This has probably changed now but there would be a different noise when a particular hopper was full - it was fairly easy to predict but bizarrely didn’t really do it for the £, just loved playing them. Can easily see how people lose a lot of £ on them.

Years ago i worked with a guy who's wife used to turn up to our factory gate to make sure she got her house keeping money before he went to the pub to gamble it all away. That was in the day when we were given wage packets.

To be fair, the toilets in Spoons are generally a fair hike away. I imagine he could have chosen a more practical receptacle though.
