📰 Scherpen to Ipswich, it's practically done! 💛💙
Our goalkeeper and the English club have reached an agreement, but Union had to settle for an offer below 15M€...
Chambaere's start against Lille was therefore no coincidence.

Union and Ipswich Town are getting closer to an agreement over Kjell Scherpen. The Brussels club wants a fair compensation for their goalkeeper, especially due to the sell-on clause with Brighton.
The parrying rather than holding is very much a European goalkeeper thing and frustrates me as an ex goalkeeper myself, but its something that can be improved and he isn't that old.
He also gets down very well for a tall keeper.
Nice highlights reel.
Positive: Get's down very well.
Meh: Shame there's not on clip of him catching crosses
Negative: quite a few parries came back into the danger zone.

Looks like a great keeper!
With regard to your comment about parrying back into the danger area. Most of those saves, where that happens, are reaction saves from close range. You don't really have a great deal of choice of where to parry a reaction save, as it's just about getting a claw to it. It gives your defence another chance to clear, what, for 80% of other keepers, would be a certain goal.

Indeed he does, and I think its unfair to criticise on the basis of a highlights reel. You cant see what happened after those saves. There are some super reflex saves in that lot. I was being picky about his parrying - if it is a thing then a coach will work on hand angle etc. it can be learnt, until it become a natural thing.
