Wasn't there last night so going by another poster here said our first was a mistake by Leif Davis,
That dosent surprise me he has a bucket full in his locker,
If he's asked to play as just a left back we may get away with having him there,
If he's asked to play that hybrid role like two years ago were screwed he isn't very good at his recovery positioning actually he's pretty useless at it,

He's not. His technical ability is very limited, and that will be exposed at Premier League level. Not getting younger either. Decent back-up, nothing more.

If he is nowhere near the level as our only capable midfielder and we struggle to sign 2 x CM then we are in serious sh!t.

I really hope for all the hard work the people involved can put something together that is thoughtful rather than a slap dash last minute panic.

I don’t get this 3-5-2. People talk as if it’s nailed on. Why? It was just a theory. Also, you have written off most of the squad from last year but included Johnson who was a backup. Why would he be in there in front of Furlong who he couldn’t replace last year?

Nothing is nailed on, back 3 or 4 back, we don't know what GON will ultimately go with, I'm just discussing my preference on a discussion forum?

Johnson is clear of Furlong as RWB, he is a better athlete and better technically. I can understand why KMc opted for Furlong as RB in our system last year, but in a back 3, Johnson as it stands is our best RWB option. By the way I don't think he's the answer, but we have far more pressing areas that that to address.
