Astonishing, when the initial media report was 'hundreds'

https://www.theguardian.com/wo

And with Italy calling for the suspension Schengen Area with Spain too

Speaking of debate, here's an article that brings together a lot of what's been discussed here, except those trying to shut down any debate of course.

https://italiantimes.substack.

It covers a lot of what is being discussed in Spain at the moment.

can you point to anything in that article that you consider to be evidence supporting eg's claim that there is "a long-term 'plot' by Israel to destabilise certain countries"?

i've read the article and i can't see any evidence.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

I've never used the term long term plot and haven't suggested the article refers to one either. Bit weird asking me that as I clearly said the article covers some of the debate here in what has happened in Ceuta and what people in Spain are discussing.

If you have some obsessions that's your problem not mine.

I wouldn't blame Phil one iota if he said "To hell with it", and shut the place down tbh. I'm sure he doesn't need the constant grief.

you said the article: "brings together a lot of what's been discussed here, except those trying to shut down any debate of course."

the only thing that any one has tried to "shut down" has been eg's fantasy conspiracy claim about an israeli plot.

what other debate do you think anyone has been "trying to shut down"?

I’ve seen it reported for less than that tbh

All these arguments and disagreements just go round and round.

Boring innit.

Deflection, that has nothing to do with your reply to me about the article. I've never spoken of conspiracies or long term plots. It's just you jumping on posts without adding anything to the conversation.

"I've never used the term long term plot"

yes, that's true, not those words. but you have said:

"There's a debate to be had over who or what was behind the events of the last two days. That debate is naturally going to include countries that have publicly threatened Spain or have longstanding grievances. You can't just shut down the debate by claiming anti-Semitism."

so in the context of a thread which has become dominated by a fantasy conspiracy claim that the events were a long-term plot by israel, how do you want people to interpret that second quote?

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Yeah, I said that and stand by it.

The news here are now reporting more than one hundred dead, families reporting dozens still missing and bodies washing up on the beaches of Morocco and Ceuta.

It needs to be made clear how this happened and who was behind it. Those behind it need to be brought to justice.

There's anecdotal evidence of border gates being left open but that doesn't explain why so many died from drowning. I've seen interviews with young Moroccans saying they read stuff via social media that they could enter mainland Spain if they reached Ceuta. I guess there will be investigations into where those messages came from.

Your only interest in this is jumping into posts, accusing people of stuff they haven't said and repeating a long term plot mantra which maybe has come up once or twice in 8 pages. It's you shutting down debate by showing no interest in joining the conversation and deflecting from what is turning into a major tragedy

it's an awful and tragic event. appalling. i'm not the one who has used it to float conspiracy fantasies.

there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to link israel to these awful events. yes, israel has diplomatically supported morocco, but beyond that there is nothing at all to associate israel with what has happened in the last few days.

yet we have people on here posting nasty unevidenced conspiracy theories and others backing them up (but, very sensibly, not wanting to use the exact same words.)

your posts have given credence to anti-israel conspiracy nonsense - allbeit more carefully worded that eg's . it's impossible to read what you have posted without concluding that that is your intention. ... 'someone's responsible and being accused of anti-semitism can't stop us saying it'. we all know what that means.

When people on here are spreading the same unfounded conspiracies as the likes of Tucker Carlson, Ana Kasparian, Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, then maybe it’s time to take a long look at themselves.

Meanwhile, a detailed intelligence report into the Ceuta border crisis which debunks these claims, proving instead that the border breach was driven by a coordinated social media campaign originating from Arabic-language and Islamist groups. Maybe a little too long to read and it’s just easier to point the finger at Israel. Oh and it reports that there will be another storming of the beaches in ten days time.

Who originated the story blaming Israel? It’s one of those ideas that really needs a reality check. Israel being able to influence the mobilisation of 60,000 men in Morocco to ‘invade’ Cueta.

A read through the historic accusations aimed at Israel (and let’s be honest, Jews) over the past 80 years is extraordinary and yet people still lap up new ones

The first person I saw spreading the conspiracy was Nick Fuentes. The second was on this thread. Make if that what you will.

Being totally against Israels behaviour against Palastinians and the propaganda to justify and cover it up is not anti Jewish i.e. not antisemitic. Stop trying to link this false narrative especially as it is counterproductive and dilutes actual antisemitism.
