Surely you cant genuinely believe we would get £15-20m for Hirst hahaa

Be stunned if we got more than £5m

I think we’d get 8m. I think that’s a fair figure and decent deal for everyone.

A loan would be a disaster. He won’t score goals at Stoke and his value would drop.

He's been a great player, but there were chunks of last season where he wasn't performing at a level expected for the Championship let alone Premier League.

I think we can upgrade.

You *think* we can upgrade?! I *know* we can!

We need to be raising the floor of every position in the squad. If we can let Hirst go to Stoke on loan with a mandatory buy option of £5m-£6m+ next summer, that's reasonable business given that his ceiling is sub-PL level. Would also represent a 4x return on his signing, which is no mean feat.

which is why we should keep him at present; his goals per minute (admittedly overwhelmingly from the bench) was up there with delap's in the prem.

we'd struggle to replace that with 5m and his wages

There is no way we should be keeping him, he's nowhere near good enough. Not even convinced he's Championship level

the stats say different, unless you don't think delap's good enough for the prem!

not saying he should be a nailed-on starter, just that you'd struggle to get a better 3rd striker for 5m and his wages

Could be the first Premier League player to trip over his own feet, I still can't quite believe that..

Permanent switch only, no loans...

Hirst was reasonably good last time in the prem. He seems better when running in behind and not being a hold up player. He’s a bit maligned now but he’s been a really good player for us over the years. He’s is not clinical enough in front of goal and I think he knows that but if he stays you know he will always give 100 percent.

Hirsty has been monumental here. Ran his socks off for the team and scored some vital goals.

His link play very underrated imo.

I'd be keeping him but if he has to go he deserves a really good move.

Excellent player.

Would rather he stayed. No point in us spending good money on a third choice. Hirst did ok last time round so I don't have a problem with him staying.

Poll: New hobby suggestions for NeedhamChris.

I would rather he stayed but I can see he might not want to drop down the pecking order. Shame but mostly sentimental from what he has given but we know he is probably not the one to keep us in the PL with goals.
