Realistically how many of last year's squad would you trust as a Premier League. 17:37 - Aug 4 with 1266 viewsTwoKnightsInIpswich

The only one is Dara O'Shea...

We shouldn't be surprised at all these players potentially being moved on

Yea, imagine supporting a player who has been part of three promotions in four years. Madness.

Leif, Azor and Jack Clarke, struggling after that. Obviously would include Jaden if he ends up staying.

To be honest, Davis is well off it in the PL.

Not though in terms of chances created.

The leading defender in the league in a poor team is some going.

And maybe we could get away with his cavalierness, if we had a stronger team around him.

That's a good stat, but he cost us a few points last time, only grace il give him is il lay it on McKenna asking him to play the role in our two previous promotions which was a step to far in the premiership,

Here's hoping,

Greaves showed some promise last time around before suffering from confidence after a couple of mistakes. He could be one.

A different system may suit Bem Johnson.

Leif worries me.

I just don’t think Leif is a great defender. Good going forward but defending he is not to hot at.
Greaves, Im not sure. Like Jack Clarke this will probably be their last time to get it right or the rest of their careers will be spent in the Championship. Ben Johnson has something about him,but I don’t really know his best position. I’m not sure he does either.

Trust to do ok or better:
O'Shea
Davis
Furlong
Jack Clarke
Philogene
Greaves
Burns
Matusiwa
Palmer
Walton (maybe)

Could do a decent job/cover/reserves:
Nunez
McAteer
Kipre
Johnson
Walle Egeli (room for development)
Mehmeti (perhaps)

Not included any of those who have already left.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I think Walle Egeli and Nuñez are both better suited to the Prem. Clarke probably too. Remember how good Cajuste looked

I will answer it truthfully, not bothered if it raises hackles with anyone. I totally agree with your assessment, there are maybe 2/3 others that could rise to the challenge, but I wouldn't want to put a mortgage on it.

Walton, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Taylor, Nunez, Johnson, Matusiwa will surely do a job.

Maybe a few others.

They don't have to be Champions League standard.

As a team that lot would be very poor. However, several of those playing squad roles to support better players are fine.

Much as we thought it would be far easier than it was last time around, I think some are going the other way in their thinking this time around.

Ultimately it is about developing a team that is very much more than the sum of its parts. We have lacked quality in central midfield and striker and very much need to improve those.

I think this is precisely the point and I completely agree. It's not about who from a championship team or squad is absolutely good enough for a starting place in the prem. That would be about 6 or 7 players a season across the league at a push. But who could be in and around a premier League squad doing a job and potentially pushing on, many more fit that bill, as you say. Spot on.

I get that entirely and is part of my fear with signing the one who was at Burnley last season too.

However, I think O'Shea is a far better player now than he was a year ago. If he can play like he did last season he will be good enough.
