Bezos rumoured to be buying big stake in Liverpool 14:54 - Aug 10 with 2559 viewsjasondozzell

As much as the yanks have saved us and delivered good times, the creeping Americanisation of football is a real worry.

The entire sporting culture is under threat.

These oligarchs and corporations are hoovering up every asset you ever cared about because of the greed of late stage capitalism.

Someone needs to save football so we can actually get back to a place where a smaller team could win the league.

I disagree the sporting culture is under threat.

Every time there has been any Americanised threat be that the super league or sale of the World Cup, the global game has responded in such a serious way that those plans have been totally killed.

The large majority of proper American MLS fans/ pundits are also now starting to flag that promotion/ relegation is required for them to continue to grow their game.

Regarding a 'smaller team' winning the league, the competitive balance has already gone too far.

You either have a system like today where the biggest teams stay at the top through commercial success, or those with the richest owners win the league.

I don't mind it. If Ipswich continue to grow sustainably, they could be competing at the top of the league like Villa over the next 10 years. That to me feels sensible.

Besos owns Amazon. Amazon runs Prime Video, who show Premier League matches.

This is another step towards "Big Clubs" opting out of collective bargaining, and negotiating their own broadcasting deals.

You have to buy a seat license in America as a season ticket holder, so that you can resell individual games on resale sites.

Many people will sell a couple of games a year against the top team in the league, or one playoff game and it will pay for their entire season ticket.

Not looking good for the average football loving fan long term is it.

Here we go.

I suppose late stage capitalism will destroy sport as it has music.
