They did but various factors.
He was in the last year of his contract, with his agent pushing back about there was a lot of clubs interested in him.
He had joined Brighton when De Zerbi was mgr, who had a more maverick approach. Then replaced by Hurzeler, who was more into a controller team approach. He apparently in one game was really annoyed with Enciso constantly wanting to shoot rather than pass, and his game time decreased as a result.
The medical identified issues with his knee. Which resulted in BlueCo reducing the offer by 50%, but with addons, sell on clauses. Brighton took it rather than run the risk of losing him for nothing. |  | | |

I can't see any evidence of that. There seems to be a bit of McKenna rewriting coming in recently. Enciso actually played under McKenna so no real reason to suggest he wouldn't get a deal done if he thought Enciso was a player he was interested in. |  | | |
