| Keith Hackett as a ref... 13:46 - Aug 13 with 1456 views | RIPbobby | I watched a few of our 82-85 matches on YouTube recently and you could see the remnants of our wonder teams falling apart and one thing I noticed was that he always acted favourably in our way Quite a few times the opponents should have had decisions over 7-8 games and every one went out way. I remember going to those games as a youngster and never really noticed. But KH is definitely a friend of the club. :) | | | | |

| Keith Hackett as a ref... on 14:43 - Aug 13 with 1273 views | Illinoisblue | That era post UEFA cup win and pre relegation is an interesting one. Was watching us at home v Forest from around 83 or 84 on YouTube the other day. Good 20 mins of highlights, Barry Davies on comms. Prob not more than 20k in the ground. Some of the main pieces are still there - Mariner, Wark, Burley - but the supporting cast of Gernon, Putney, Steggles, D’vray, hints at what is to come. An absolute beauty of header from Mariner seals a 2-0 win. At half time the camera zooms in on an ol Suffolk boy in Cobbold lower smoking on a cig. Different times. | |

Yeah i was there. I forgot about that. Yep he missed what asa hartford did to mich davray. The first leg always confuses me as it was so one sided. Fair play to chris woods he played so well.
| Keith Hackett as a ref... on 16:21 - Aug 13 with 1064 views | Radlett_blue | I remember Alf Buksh, who was on the League list from 1983-93. Everyone seemed to agree he was terrible but Town nearly always used to win when he was in charge. | |

PR was his favourite ground.

Yeah i watched that. I cant be sure if i remember going to the match. It seems so long ago. My earliest clear memories was how Eric Gates was the main man and almost single handedly scored goal after goal. I also seem to remember being upset when kevin o callaghan left. Oh the memories. I vaguely remember a Norwich scarf being burnt at the front of the north on derby day. Well that's what it looked like from churchmans. Lol I wonder what happened to the girls walking around the pitch with souvenirs and if anybody ever won golden goal?

One week I was 7 seconds out, the next week it was 3 seconds. Never bought another ticket! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What were the prizes? It still seems almost impossible to win at.

I bought one once. I got 0 minutes and 6 seconds. Obviously no goal was scored so quickly, and I never bought one again. IIRC they didn’t sell any for the first 5 seconds, so I really lucked out …

I think it was £50 with a consolation prize if your ticket was for no goal. Or possibly £100. [Post edited 13 Aug 18:32]

Not the best of times travelling on a tube full of West Ham fans singing I'm forever blowing bubbles. Some must have disappeared up Thomas's ar*e.

I always liked Roger Kirkpatrick. I'm sure he could backwards faster than he could forwards!

I met Kirkpatrick late 70s / early 80s, don't know exactly when, or where, Great Yarmouth or Lowestoft Swimming Pool. We'd finished swimming, I'd got dressed and was waiting for my mum, sister and another girl. I passed out, don't know why. When I came around I was in an office with a concerned looking man, mum etc. I was wearing a bar scarf with Ipswich patch badges (remember them oldies?), he told me his name & that he used to be a referee As for Buksh, think he was quoted in Shoot or similar, that he liked PR because of the quality of whisky he was given after games

Pretty sure we were unbeaten when Alf was on the pitch. It took him going off injured at Anfield for Liverpool to beat us in the cup.
