Will be very sad to see him go.

What's your favourite Hirsty moment? There's the obvious ones. But for me it was his first league goal for us away at Bolton. Set up that amazing run for the L1 promotion.

Fantastic player. Selfless, ran all day, great awareness and link up play and on his day could finish with style.

He's legend status.

Was he prolific scorer? No. Will other fans understand. No.

He turned up for some really big games. Huge part of our success. Worked his nuts off. Bullied defenders at times. Fantastic relationship with players around him.

He lived what this football club means to us. He fulfilled the fans dreams with 3 promotions.

Absolute hero and did it wth a huge smile on his face.

Thanks George. Forever a Town man!

My favourite was non football related. To the extent I emailed the club but never heard a thing so not sure if he ever got the message.

My lad did a training thing at Portman road, and after the session GH came over to speak to all the kids etc.

My lad cant deal that well with surprises and was so overwhelmed, he wouldn't have his photo taken with GH and was in tears.

As people were leaving he came over to speak to us and was fantastic with my boy on a 1-1 basis. Not something he had to do, as he'd done his duty for the night.

For those few minutes of his time he was an incredible human being (not saying he's not)

Just wishing i had a chance to thank him later as the effect he had on my boy was massive.

Genuinely leave the forum and go and support another team please (if you don't already). You are not a town fan making a comment like that.

Will always be Barnsley away for me,great performance and a superb, important 2nd goal which knocked the stuffing out of the opposition. Gave me and my lad our favourite away day together.

Yeah, that one. The absolute highlight of the McKenna era IMO. Lots of others but George is one of many players without whom we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Love Hirst. Proper selfless player, ran himself in to the ground every week and was a brilliant number 9 for us.

My favourite moment (aside from Barnsley) was Sunderland away. A big deal was made by fans of other teams about how he never scored in the Championship, couldn't be a starting number 9 at the level and then he rifle one home on the opening day to put us 2 up. Good times.

Wish I could upvote this twice!

Old enough to have seen my team win a final at Wembley, but not lucky enough to have witnessed the great Sir Bobby era.

Definitely the right move for him to be leaving in a football sense, last season was a car crash for him and he wouldn't get a sniff in the PL and rightly so.

However another real character from the band of brothers gone, only Leif left standing now, so from that perspective he's a big loss.

Hope he can rediscover his top form at Stoke and get his career back on track.

Cheers George.

Absolutely pathetic comment. How can you possibly call yourself a town fan with opinions like that?

In all his time here the first half of last season was the only period he didn't do a great job for us.

He was pretty decent in the Premier League last time too.

Loved him, think he was underrated by some - very intelligent player, great footballing brain, often selflessly creating for and playing others in.

Go well Hirsty 👍
