Exactly this. Has been a huge part of our journey, and even last season after a tough time of it still got 11 goals.
He'll do a decent job for Stoke.

Goal at Brentford goes under the radar, probably because it ultimately meant nothing but at the time it put us two up. Brilliant finish and probably not the type we associate with him.
For him and Burns to come back in that Hull game after a lengthy time away injured, and combine to score the first goal, that felt quite poignant. Both started unexpectedly (and both of course started against Huddersfield two games later, showing how important they were).
I managed to win a match worn signed shirt from the Coventry Home game in December. So the goal v Coventry to put us two up, that day has to be my favourite George Hirst moment.
Quite a crucial goal, that gave us some breathing space against a tough opposition last season.

Will be sad to see him go - looked very good in the Prem before.
Highlights for me were his near-post bullet header (can’t remember which game), taking out Burns to score against Exeter, Norwich and of course BARNSLEY.

I am really gutted George will not be part of the next step. I thought he would contribute as a 2nd or 3rd striker. Especially given the post championship era isn’t assured.
Barnsley away. What a game. What a moment. Limbs everywhere. That was the biggest moment. He has been a great servant, run all over defenders to allow others to produce. Last season was a disappointment, he still contributed goals though, it just seemed at time he went backwards, not sure why.
Sentimentally it’ll be sad to see him leave of course. It was a frustrating year last year for him and it feels right for him to move on, yet he was a big part of some of our successes under KM.
It has to be his goal at Barnsley. A moment I will remember for the rest of my life and to be there with 5,000 other Town fans was very special. An unbelievable night all round. I've lost count the number of times I've watched that Town in 5.

Rarely had space to run into. Look what happened when Cov played that night line at PR, he beat the trap and finished brilliantly, similarly to a handful of goals he scored in 23/24. I don't think he regressed as much as people say, I just think it was a different team having to play a different way against different tactics.
He did also suffer massively from a lack of confidence for a period, not helped by some of his own fans, sadly.
Was he prolific scorer? No. Will other fans understand. No.
He turned up for some really big games. Huge part of our success. Worked his nuts off. Bullied defenders at times. Fantastic relationship with players around him.
He lived what this football club means to us. He fulfilled the fans dreams with 3 promotions.
Absolute hero and did it wth a huge smile on his face.
