| 26/27 Capacity - Official 16:24 - Aug 21 with 1003 views | Zx1988 | I don't know if this has been covered off in the discussions that have taken place to date, but it seems there's now official confirmation of capacity changes. The 2026/27 Premier League Handbook lists the capacity of Portman Road at the start of the season as being 30,294, which would represent an increase on previous seasons. Interestingly the 2024/25 Handbook stated the capacity as being 29,813, whilst the highest attendance that season was 30,017 against Manchester United, so I don't know whether methodologies have changed, or whether there's actually scope for an attendance higher than 30,294 this season? | |

Yes, I think it was something like 30,012 for Liverpool. I don't know whether there's a difference between what gets counted as capacity in the PL Handbook, and the 'everyone in the stadium' approach that ITFC seems to use for matchday attendances - that might explain the difference between the official capacity, and the attendances that were announced in 24/25.

As I recall, wasn't there still work going on in the ground right up to the opener, and the capacity changed during that summer? The capacity recorded in the PL handbook is a snapshot of figures provided before the season opens. Maybe it changed slightly due to the work, after the figures were submitted by the club?

How does that happen though if each space is still the same " seat" space, but instead if an actual seat, theres now a searching bar? They're not squeezing more people into a row are they?

Extra couple of spaces per row. So you'll need to check, especially if you used to be on an aisle. Capacity will also have changed a wee bit with the rebuild of the lower tier disabled areas.
