Look how far we have come in 5 seasons. Paul Cook running on the pitch looking shall I say like he had just had a big lunch was a low point amongst the empty seats and chants for Bonne.

Nice tribute to Paul Mariner mind.

Ahhh leave Cooky alone! I used to like his little run out and wave to the crowd.

It didn't work out here but it was a pretty tricky transition to oversee. He brought in many of the players that became instrumental in league success.

I also think the demolition man summer was needed.

We were just wildly inconsistent under Cook.

Think his father passing towards the end also very difficult.

But yes, the speed of travel has been incredible. But Mark Steed set the tone (albeit crassly) on twitter when the takeover was confirmed.

It's still a thrill to see PR full. For those of us there during the darkest of days it was so sad. Sometimes only 12000 or in for a midweek game. (Although I miss leaving the pub at 2.56...😉).

And the pull out tunnel.

I'm pretty sure fans were saying we should buy him..................

Is that the first half of the season where everything he hit went in, but then normality resumed and he wasn't very good.

I think the dream then was Stockton and Piggot up front with Teddy Bish playing a full 90 mins.

Now we are signing Argentine internationals.

It really is utter madness and i'm here for it.

Probably best not to overrate a player who scores twice against a team that included 8 new signings making their debut.

I think when Paul Cook was appointed I was pretty much then just going for the away day out and have a good drink, the game was not important. Now I am in the ground with my half and half scarf at 2-00 pm trying to get photos of the players, can't wait to see Haaland ha

I was not a fan, my dad liked him / found him amusing oddly enough. It was a bit of a laugh or cry scenario.

I think we wanted him back was my point after he went walkabout to Lincoln.

When was the "walkabout to Lincoln"? I know he was transferred to them 10 days before the Morecambe game, but I wasn't aware of the "walkabout"

Thank you for posting that. Really interested in the changes.

21,000 crowd was pretty good for League 1.

Paul Cook? Terrific manager, poor fit for ITFC. It happens.

That L1 era was so bleak.

Cook flopped but at least his appointment gave us a level of belief after Lambert, and he made some good signings that summer. His inability to get a tune out of them wasn't great, but on the flip side it did mean we got McKenna.

2020 / 2021 season was the absolute floor though. 9th in L1. 4-1 at Doncaster. The 2-0 defeat at home to Charlton with 13 year old McGavin and Gibbs in CM. We made them look like PSG. 3-0 defeats at Wimbledon and Northampton, in the space of a week.

Cornell. Nsiala. Harrop. Oli Hawkins. What an absolute clusterfeck that was.

Me too, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. True enough we sometimes wondered about staying in the pub, rather than going to the match, but some proper grounds, pubs and supporters in those lower league towns. Great away days.
I wouldn't change anything that has happened since, but bigger is not always better.

All about the journey innit.

I'd say the last 8 seasons as a Town fan (on balance) have been as good as anyone. You've got to feel the lows to experience the high's. I'd take that journey over someone like Brighton or Everton, ironically clubs we probably aspire to match right now. Let alone a Reading or Stoke.

It didnt help that virtually none of his backroom staff followed him here... poor bloke was on a hiding to nothing tbh. He did well under those circumstances I thought...
